If you are coming to Tuscany for your vacation, and you’re looking through the guide books, you’ll see a great deal written about famous butchers in Chianti. Yes, some will even sing and recite Dante. Smashing.
But for me, the last thing I need is a my butcher singing at me. Really. What I really want from my butcher is a passion for good meat. And Riccardo and his team at Macelleria Stiaccini have just that. Their meat is amazing, and anything you want to know about which breed of cow your Fiorentina steak comes from, which farm he buys from, and why, and how long he hangs it…he’ll tell you anything. They even serve home-made lunches at little tables outside using the meat he sells every day.
No frills, no dancing, and definitely no singing. Bloody marvellous.
