We’ve tried to make Patrignone as hospitable as possible. We won’t promise everything is perfect. This is no 5* Sherilton. 

But we hope you’ll fall in love with this place every but as much as we have. One evening on the terrazza watching the sun go down, that should do the trick.

OUR SWIMMING POOL

The swimming pool is the perfect place to relax after a tough day at the Uffizi. The natural stone-tiled pool area is a short but tactful distance from the house, and offers the most amazing sunset views, as well as the opportunity to watch the cheeky swallows having an evening dip in the pool. There are plenty of sun-loungers, as well as umbrellas and the natural shade from the oak trees near the pool. The pool terrace is a great place to enjoy a shady picnic while overlooking the rich Tuscan landscape, or to spot some of the local wild-life, especially just before dusk. Wild boar, deer and foxes have all been spotted here. The pool is usually open from April to September, but this is somewhat weather dependent. NB There is no pool supervision, so NO children under the age of 16 may use the pool unsupervised.

THE TERRACOTTA TERRAZZA

There is a large tiled terrace surrounded by a dense rosemary hedge. It has one of the best views in Tuscany, especially at sunset. There are plenty of tables and chairs, and a gazebo to provide shade. Many of our guests use the Terrace for sunset drinks or bring their meals here to enjoy their dinner as the sun dips behind the Apennines and San Gimignano. Many guests have made life-long friends over a bottle of Chianti Classico or three.It will be your favourite spot at Podere Patrignone, that is guaranteed.

THE KOI POND

The Koi pond is a peaceful landscaped area made up of a stone built circular pond, with a seating area all around. It has dozens of Koi carp and goldfish, and it is very quiet and cool as it is shaded by large cypress trees. There is a gazebo to one side which is a lovely place to read in the summer. NB It is NOT a safe area for young children to roam unsupervised.

WI-FI

We currently have a decent connection, suitable for most casual daily use, email, social posting, and whatever the kids get up to these days. But it's not exactly fibre. So if everyone decides to watch Netflix at the same time, that might slow everyone down. So we throttle back video streaming services so that people have bandwidth to chat to their loved ones back home, and find a great restaurant for dinner. You didn't come all the way to Tuscany to watch TV, did you?

COVERED PARKING

Did we tell you about our solar farm? It generates all our electricity, and then some. And it also acts as the roof for our covered parking area, with plenty of room for everyone's cars. So you can park your car in the shade, and not risk 3rd degree burns when you decide to go out to shop.

STUNNING NATURE

And if you are tired of civilization, why not step into some of the amazing scenery there is to enjoy in Tuscany, from breathtaking mountains to lush green forests, or some of the classic landscapes of Tuscany, all on your doorstep.

RESTAURANTS EVERYWHERE

Within a 10-minute drive you can reach any one of dozens of fantastic restaurants, from pizza to fine dining. And they are all amazing! They all speak excellent English, and booking is highly recommended for the busier spots.

SHOPPING FOR FOOD

There's a good local supermarket just 10 minutes away in Castellina in Chianti, with an excellent butcher, and several delicatessens. For the real 'local' experience, track down the daily open-air food market near you - there is one in a different nearby town every day.

SHOPPING FOR SHOPPERS

For those of you who just love to shop, you can't beat the cities of Florence and Siena, where you'll find everything from fasion, hand-made leather, antique jewellery, ceramics, you name it. For those who love their outlets, there are three big ones in the area, offering everything from Prada to Gucci and beyond.
