For those of you keen to get away from the more touristy spots, Radda in Chianti should definitely be on your list. It has a really lovely _lived-in_ feel to it, and that’s probably because a lot of local people do live there, so it’s not just for tourists.
Yet despite this, it is well-stocked with decent restaurants, cafés, bars, and delis. It has a great little hotel with a really love spa that’s well worth ½ day of your time. But it’s the beauty of the streets, the architecture, the tunnels and steps that meander and twist every which way that make this place one of our favourites.
It’s only 20 minutes away from our Tuscan agriturismo with its villa and apartments to rent, so we send all our guests there at some point, even if it’s just for an evening stroll through the lovely streets when they are at their quietest.
And they have very good gelato at the bar at the end of town.
