So, with a lot of family staying with us this last week, we’ve been eating out more than usual. And La Torre is another excellent local family-run restaurant where we know we’ll get excellent food at very decent prices. Any restaurant that survives 120 years in a quiet country village in Tuscany is clearly doing something right. Italians are notoriously harsh critics, and vote with their feet (and their stomachs). La Torre is busy with locals all through the winter, and that’s a very good sign.
The cuisine is traditional country kitchen cuisine, but they do everything to perfection. They have some excellent home-made pasta dishes, and their ribollita is the best you’ll taste. We had summer-truffle ravioli and the home-made pici which were amazing.
They have a lovely outdoor terrazza overlooking the medieval square, and it is always busy in the summer, so book. English-speaking staff and reasonable prices make this a winning combination. Always on our recommended list for our guests.
